Night out with the girls

Not much new has been going on here lately. We've just been working and trying to find some extra time to play. Jared stays super busy with school, work and scouts. I am lucky enough to teach primary now. I love the things the kids come up with. They're so funny, they're like my old people at work. They say the things that everybody else is thinking but nobody else dares to say. Last week in the middle of the lesson one little girl raised her hand and said, are you almost done talking yet? Obviously they don't find me that interesting. My first lesson I had to teach was on the law of chastity. Talk about pressure, I asked the kids, can anybody tell me what chastity is. I teach ages 8-11 so I thought they definitely have to know what chastity is.... that's a negative... they had no clue. How do I explain that to them? One kid was all confused and kept calling it the law of chocolate. I referred them to their moms and dads and just skipped it altogether.

I was finally able to find some time away from work and go out with the girls. Me, Hollie and Jess went to PF Changs in Salt Lake and caught up. It was super fun. I miss the care free days when we all used to hang out all night.

The rest are just some random pictures
I found of us together over the last few years.

This is Jess on Halloween a few years ago,
when we used to work at Sonora...

This is the night Jared and I got engaged. We were all up hiking (minus Jared, he refused to skip class) on the way down we started running into all these signs that said sweet things about some girl. I was like, oh thats nice of someone, I think someone's proposing. I think it was Katie that was like, maybe it's Jared and I was like, no way he would never skip class. But, apparently he did....

Welcome Penelope...

Well, we've been super busy lately with the Holidays and everything. A few weeks ago Jared and I celebrated our 1 yr wedding anniversary. We had a really fun weekend in Salt Lake, we stayed at Hotel Monaco.. Loved it, can't wait to go back. A lot has happened in our one year of marriage, we bought a house being the biggest. Everything is great. We pulled out our frozen wedding cake. That piece right there is the one we cut at our wedding, we each ate some of it and then put it back, ha ha.
One year old wedding cake is not so good.....
We also got a new member of the family. She's a cute little pug named Penelope. We adopted her from an old lady that couldn't take care of her. She's super cute, but super crazy.....
This is her right after she got back from the vet with her little bandaid on her leg. After we'd had her a day or two she threw up on the floor and.... surprise... she had worms! Luckily, I was at work and didn't see them but Jared was sweet enough to take photos of the worms in the throw-up and then out of the throw-up to show me.... oh and he saved the worm for me on the counter so I could see it up close.... so thoughtful!

Poor little Montey had to be tested for worms too.... here's him with his bandaid.....

They didn't like each other at first. Then, Montey figured out that he Really REALLY like Penny, we couldn't get him to stop humping her, he got over that in a week or so and now everything's great.
We had a great Christmas with our families and we're looking forward to a great New Year. That's all for now. Lata!

The Remodel

As recently promised, here are some updated pictures of what has gone on with the house. There's still a lot of odds and ends we're working on and we haven't even touched the basement! But here are some photos of what we have done so far. I didn't include our bedroom or the guest bedroom. Jared has recently become the new scout master in our ward and the guest bedroom has become scout headquarters. It was full of flags and manuals and such.. Just not ready for a photo op. As for our bedroom.... eh, none of the photos I took turned out so good, so I decided not to include them. It's actually quite hard to take photos of bedrooms. I have a new respect for real estate photos.

The Kitchen, we haven't been able to afford knobs on the cabinets yet since
we're paying for the remodel as we go, but they'll be coming soon

This is the dining area, eventually I'll refinish our little
table but haven't been up to it yet....

This is the front room.

The little bathroom....

This is my special room with my piano and
my sewing stuff, not quite organized yet, but I'm not planning
on it being a real tidy area.....

and this is a shot of how refinishing the hardwood
floors turned out. Montey wanted to be in the photo so bad.
I couldn't get him to move.
We recently had a BBQ to celebrate moving in with all our family
so the rest is photos of everybody hanging out.

Little Abby, who is now a blooming Xcountry star! She ran varsity
in a race today with 3 different schools and took first! As a
Sophomore! Good job Abby!!

Our niece Brooklyn
(hanging like someone..the Thornley family knows who we're talking about)

Our nephew Gage, smiling for the camera..

And little Montey, begging everybody for food, the little turd. The End

The House

A little update on what's been going on lately. A ton! I feel like I've been working in a psych hospital instead of a nursing home. Things have been pretty crazy lately, but I guess it keeps life interesting. It worries me a little that nothing shocks me anymore. It's scary the things I'm used to. I've just been working a ton between the hospital and nursing home. Jared just started school again and has been working a lot on the house. We're finally moved in! We're still living in a bit of a construction zone but it's nice to be out on our own.

There are a few things we miss about living with Jared's mom's. Food, Disney channel, internet, washer and dryer, couches, dishwasher... just to name a few. But, I'm enjoying myself tonight. Jared is the new scoutmaster, so while he's away on a campout, I'm spending the night at Terry's, using the internet, and watching Disney. Hopefully everything will settle down soon and we'll start to be less crazy. I've finally posted some pictures of the house. These were taken during construction so these are the before pictures I'll post the after pictures once we're all unpacked. Lata
This is the side, all the front on pictures made it look so grandma house....

This is the studio out-back.. Jared's grandpa said we should rent it out.. Living in Ogden, I don't think that should be too hard.

This is the back view of the house...

Another view of the side..

This is the original fridge from the 40's or 50's still being used. this picture is not sideways.. the fridge was built in like a cupboard and opened into these three compartments...

This is what was underneath the carpet in the hall... brick patterned linoleum...Definitely loved it,wanted to keep it but Jared refused...whatever, you just can't find quality like this anymore...

This is what the original hardwood floors looked like once we got all the linoleum peeled off...

And, last of all, the kitchen! TaDa!
Renovation pictures coming soon....
